I think my friend bought one from a local store the other day. Are they huge POS's? I know nothing about them.

i've heard the M&P is a 22lr upper, and you can swap a standard AR upper in

Some guy next to me at the range was shooting a Colt .22LR upper yesterday...looked all metal to me. Do they make a metal version?

The colt/walther/umarex or whatever the fuck they are,are all metal. But the uppers and lowers can't be swaped out.Same with the S&Ws.But the S&Ws are plastic like the GSGs

But anyone looking for a .22 AR.Buy a drop in kit.Or a dedicated upper from THT.
I personally would go with a dedicated upper. But that's just me

A buddy was in the market for an AR in .22. He wanted something a little more fun than his 10/22 for plinking. I've tried to convince him to just build an actual AR, but he isn't ready to take the plunge yet financially.

I at least convinced him to get the S&W M&P15-22 since I've been reading that they are built a lot better than the Umarex POS.

He picked one up at Academy Sports for $430 out the door (they pricematched a local FFL that has awesome prices but didn't even have them in stock yet!). He shot it this weekend and loves it.

I would agree... I have a complete dedicated .22 AR (Anvil Arms lower, DPMS upper with a CMMG conversion in it), but for someone that doesn't have an AR at all it's hard to pass up an entire gun for less than the cost of a dedicated AR upper.

I quite enjoy being a fool for buying a GSG5. Have had a ton of fun with it and no issues so far through a couple thousand rounds.
