So I <3 my new mbp tons, but believe it or not I'm finding it hard to use... not because it's not a great machine, but because I am so used to my desktop machine being "where everything is." I don't even really know what solution I want here to make this easier, but I figured I'd ask mac shack users with multiple machines how they make sure all their files are where / when they need them to be. :dunno:

    go go go :x:

I was in your position but now I have no problems. Just use it for a month or so as your only computer.

You might want to consider just getting a nice monitor and a dock(not necessary) and not have to bother with syncing.

I can already do that with the multiple inputs on my 22" lcd , but the problem is storage, basically... the desktop has way more space that the mbp ever will have, and if I could do it, I basically want my mbp to "check out" and "check in" data to the desktop. in other words, ideally my laptop would be slaved to the desktop. any changes I make on the laptop during the day would automatically be synced back to the desktop in the appropriate place when I come home :dunno:
