    1. ALWAYS wear black
there is nothing worse than seeing your own reflection in a photo when done crazy bounce shooting.

    2. If you're ever in the position where you have to shoot social event and write down names, whenever you can bring someone with you to write down names, it will make things so much smoother for your entire night.

    3. Always pack extra batteries, doesn't matter if its just a 20 minute shooting session, there's nothing quite as frustrating as running out of juice in the wrong time because some of the batteries went bad ( I use eneloops but try to always keep a pack of 16 cheap double a batteries at the ready just in case).

    4. For concerts..the draw should always be shooting with available light, but if it isn't favourable, don't be afraid to hand a flash (with a color gel optional) to a friend and make your own light. It's not exactly accurate but the clients ive had love that.

    5. Business cards, keep a steady supply of those at hand always, you never know when you might meet a solid contact.

I just thought of these, anyone care to add some?

    ohh forgot one

    7. If youre shooting event with other photographers, take the time to know them and be courteous, if they need space to shoot by all means help him get the shot, in the long run most photographers in an area end up as buddies, the ones that are unwilling to work together will generally get shunned. This is in my experience so far

It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

    Be prepared.

As for weddings, if its formal, don't show up in khakis and a button down. Dressing accordingly is the key. I know a few of the weddings my wife did were *very* formal and made even the photog and DJ wear tux suits. It was written in their contracts.for weddings, I always ask how the dress code is... and if its not a suit and tie, dark shirt, black dress slacks, and maybe a tie. Better be overdressed than underdressed!

    9. Even if your client pulls the ( im a fucking hour late) don't bitch at him/her try to keep a cool until after the shot, it just messes up the whole feeling of the shot.
