    If you guys could check out http://www.spiye.com/ND in both FF and IE6 you will see that in FF it looks fine, but in IE6 the width of the container div is much larger than it should be and I can't figure it out. I put the borders around stuff just to see where the divs began and ended.

    the css file is at http://www.spiye.com/ND/page.css

    any help would be appreciated

    It's because you're adding a 100px margin to the left and right sides of your mainphotos container. Also, you may not want to use id as selector if you plan on using it multiple times throughout the same document. id is used to given an element a unique value.

    Replace #mainphotos to the following.

    Code:
    #mainphotos
    {
    	float:left;
    	padding:0 100px;
    	margin-top:10px;
    	margin-bottom:10px;
    	border-bottom:1px dotted #000000;
    		border-top:1px dotted #000000;

    }
