kinda made a rushed decision and bought a sony cdrw (crx215a1) and havent found nearly as many good reviews as any lite-on model. PC isnt built yet, but liteons @ new egg hit like 71 max, the $ony I got for 79.99 with mir ($20). Do I take back $ony to frys and order from new egg? Or say fawk it

Model #'s of Lite-Ons to research (48x24x48) preferrably, would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for serious answers. :)

ib buy lite-on you moron :o

dont know about Sony, but Lite-On does alot of CD-RW drives for Plextor and TDK. I say go with the Lite-On :bigthumb: Sony's proprietary Gold(?) brand burning ware :ugh:

ive only bought sony burners myself. i have NEVER had one of them make a coaster (unless i fucked up)

i had a 4x, 24x and a 40x and none have died, just went to friends.

one nice thing about lite-on's is u can flash the firmware from the 40x to a 48x :bigthumb:

did some more research, every review I read was how bad the sony sw sucks, and apparently lite-on comes with nero, which everyone seems to love. I ordered the LTR-48246S. Only 65.95 with 2 day shipping from new egg.

    i just installed my lite-on 48x24x48 drive.

windows xp picked it up right away and didnt need any drivers. which is a good thing because it didnt come with any.

i burned two CDs already at 40x (because thats all the CDs could handle) and they came out great.

while the drive is in use, its kinda loud. then again i havent used a cd drive in months. note: i cant even tell if my computer is on if it werent for my flashing LCD display on my case.
