I want to get the side of my lip pierced, just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share. Also, it's cold as fuck here and my lips get chapped pretty often despite using like 5 bars of chapstick a day, is that going to fuck anything up?

Do it. For me, it didn't hurt at all.. the clamps were the worst part. You'll probably find yourself licking your lips a lot too, try to avoid that. Also, try not to play with it .. I did and it caused random bleeding, plus it probably didn't help on the healing too much. Clean it daily, and do the salt water rinses, they help the healing process a lot, and expect crusties, which are sorta irritating... aaand after each meal rinse with original listerine .. the pee-coloured stuff.

Thats all I can think of, have fun, listen to your piercer about other aftercare and such.

If you don't rinse with listerine now, don't once you get the piercing.
It will throw off your mouths natual pH balance, or something alone those lines.
Keep your mouth healthy, but don't do more than you usually do.

I have had mine done twice, both in the same spot. First time I had a ring in it for the starter jewelry and the second time I decided on a barbell. For some reason the rings make my lips more prone to being chapped while the barbell has never cause my lips to be chapped and is actually more subtle.

I've got two done on the same side, two rings next to each other, which I've never really seen on anyone else before.

They are pretty painless and heal up really quick, it's a really easy piercing.

    just some basic questions..

how long until i'll be able to eat without having to break up all my food? actually biting and tearing pieces of food off really hurt.

how easy is it to take out the ring myself and put a new one in when its completely healed?

ive got to go home in 4 weeks and i dont think i want to tell my parents yet, could i take it out and put it back in when i leave the house without worrying too much about it closing up?

uhh thats basically it i guess

It'll only take a few hours about the food, I was eating fine really quick, they don't get in the way too much at the side.

The rings just a matter of practice, my girlfriend can't do hers at all but I can do my segment rings in seconds.

I wouldn't take it out, from my experience lip piercings tend to heal quickly, as in a few hours, and with it only being pierced for 4 weeks it will heal up super quick. Buy a retainer for it and put that in when you see your parents. You should be able to do it after 4 weeks without too many problems.

you wear that in place of your jewelry when you need to "hide" a piercing, but it doesnt really help much cause people can still notice.

i say try not to smoke...

yeah, its a really tiny piece of plastic/glass you put in, which makes it harder to notice.

If you don't want it to heal up, don't take it out when you see your parents though.

I went to the gym today and they won't let me in with it. Is it safe to take it out this early? If I take it out I'm not going to be putting it back in. I'd rather go to the gym than have the piercing and I don't want to risk infection fucking around with it every day.

I think a full heal time is around 3 months.
Taking it out before that, especially this soon, will only cause troubles.

Well, is it safe to take it out now? It will obviously close up but I don't care. At this point I'd rather go to the gym than have a piercing.

Is this a high school gym? or a full gym that you pay a membership fee for?
