Im installing Linux on an older athlon 1800 machine and just wanted to see what everyone thought was the best version to use. Im a complete noob and im looking for something that will be easy enough to use but has advance features that i can activate/use as i get the hang of it. Also what software do yall recommend i install (open office...etc.)

Fedora, SuSE, Ubuntu, and Mandrake are very simple for noobs. Most likely you'll try a few until you find the one that suits you best.

If you have enough HD space (likely 10-20GB or more) just install everything that comes with the distribution. Unlike Windows, Linux distros usually come packed with free software, most of the stuff you'll need.

:werd: How the hell am I supposed to figure out where my cursor is without it?

Ubuntu is highly recommended for everyone, including new users.
