I'm your average gamer. I play Doom 3, EQ2, and WoW. I've built a few machines myself so I know more than joe schmoe. But lately, especially with the upcoming release of Vista, I've heard of much praise of Linux. Now my question is, can games made for windows be run on Linux? Especially the three games I just mentioned?

Doom 3 works just fine under Linux. I have no experience with WoW or EQ.

Doom 3 even has a native linux port. But for gaming in general, you'll pretty much need cedega. Here is a list of supported games though: http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/

Doom 3, as stated has a linux port. Plays, well very nicely. The rest you'll have to use cedega which emulates the windows enviroment for gaming. Played HL2 on that pretty easily.

If you're going to be gaming I suggest going with nvidia vid cards. They tend to work better under linux than Ati cards.
