I'm running KDE 3.1 on Slackware 9.1 and have a PS/2 lazer mouse with a center scroll wheel, which is not currently working. Does anybody know of a way to get the scroll wheel working? If so, please share the knowledge :)

Here's the solution I figured out (for those of you wish similar problems):

Edit your XF86Config, or Xorg.conf, file under the mouse device add:

    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

    Save and reboot.

    Right. Here's my mouse section:

    Section "InputDevice"

    # Modified by mouseconfig
    Identifier "Mouse0"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
this is what gets the scroll to work the Intellimouse ps/2 has a different protocol than just a regular ps/2 mousie
