anyone have suggestions on laptops that come with linux preinstalled? i bought a laptop and had problems with pcmcia network card (tried two that were both linux-compliant but i couldnt get the buggers to work) and the modem was an ltmodem that the beta drivers for ltmodems didnt work for...so anyway, im just gunna sell it and buy one preinstalled. no price range-just needs to have a network card. thanks.

I'm not familiar with any notebooks that come with linux. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I :dunno:.

I would just try getting a Dell and work at getting linux on it. It can't be impossible.

What distro did you try? I installed RedHat8 flawlessly on my work Gateway laptop.

You won't find a laptop with linux preinstalled, however you can buy them OS-less and install linux yourself. Chances are if you find an OS-Less laptop (new) it'll have linux-compatible hardware. Actually, now that I mention it, pretty much ALL hardware is linux compatible nowadays. I have a TON of obscure and new hardware at home and it all works in linux for me, and I have yet to have someone tell me their hardware doesn't work in linux where I couldn't make it work. (Although I'm sure theres a couple things out there...)
