How many linux users are there here?
SuSe 10.2 here
Soon to be linux via XO Laptop. Let's propagate! :sex:
i use it at home and at work of course.
at work: rhel on x64/x86 boxes and suse on the hpcc's.
at home: rhel, fedora, centos, gentoo, whatever i feel like
Use it at home and work as projects and something to play with
Work, have an Dell Desktop with Ubuntu Server and Samba on it. Using it as my file server and local web server. Something I did with spare time and equipment, they're not used for anything critical.
Home, built a cheap desktop with Ubuntu on it as a cheap computer to surf the web, listen to mp3s, watch vids, and do homework on.
I have Kubuntu installed on an old laptop. It works well.
ubuntu on my lappy
I use Ubuntu at work.
OS X on the MacBook, but its all cross-platform stuff deployed on Ubuntu.
Have used both Linux and Solaris for my startup. If Linux has kernel support for ZFS I'd never stray from Ubuntu.
Kubuntu on my laptop...
archlinux on my desktop
most of the code I write is for ppc64 SLES 10.
I've been using Linux as my primary or only OS since 1998 or 99. Ubuntu these days. Fedora at work, unfortunately (it's such a sack of shit).
Its amazing that Redhat is as big as they are when... RHEL is a piece of crap. Their perl is throw-away.
here's my home office setup:
2 servers for development, one cent OS 4, one 5, and a macbook with OSX had to throw that in there
main machine is a windows box and will probally remain that way for a longgg time
It's because they offer support contracts. *ubuntu doesn't do that yet, though hopefully they will soon.
CentOS 5, Ubuntu 7.10 on 3 machines, FC 8
I run CentOS on my home server, ubuntu on my laptop, wife's laptop, home PC and FC8 on my second media PC. I'll be switching both MediaPCs (the other has win XP) over to Kubuntu before long.
RHES 4 at work, Ubuntu on this laptop for home, Maemo (debian derivative) on my nokia n800
slackware.. but it just sits under my stairs doing stuff.
I bet it's lonely down there.
Work: SUSE, Gentoo
Work: RH (some) and CentOS (which is Oracle and now Hyperion Essbase)
Home: Ubuntu, SuSe & CentOS for Server
I use FreeBSD and Solaris at home, and RHEL, Solaris, HP/UX and AIX at work.
Ubuntu 7.10 on all my machines, dual booted with XP.
I'm going to install Kubuntu on my laptop when it arrives.
dot, on all my machine
