I have a problem with my linksys that when I enable security (WPA Shared, TKIP) I can't get an IP on my dowstairs machine (it gets low-medium signal). However, when I disable security, it connects fine. Any advice?

I was doing the WPA PreSharedKey security with MAC Filtering enabled. My laptop connects fine, but the machine downstairs with a linksys wireless G card won't connect unless the security is open and mac filtering is turned off.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

the linksys mac filtering is boneheaded. on one unit there was a "filter" button and an "ok" button. you had to click "ok" instead of "filter" to include the mac, and if you clicked "filter" it would deny that mac. very very retarded

Why use keyed security when using mac filtering? IMO mac filtering is enough and using wireless security a lot of people have connectivity and speed issues.

You are using different keys for different computers . . . right?

it is WPA Pre-Shared Key...the key is the same for all computers when using this security.
