I got an Onkyo SR-606 and some shitty 5.1 HTB speakers at the moment. My HDMI input\preset for my PS3 get some higher line noise than other presets\inputs on the receiver (ie cable/sat).

I am going to try a different HDMI cables tomorrow when I rearrange my system. However, I am using component cables to my cable/sat input.

I have read a few things regarding the receiver been plugged straight to wall instead of through a power/surge strip because of the better grounds. Any ideas?

The speakers, TV, and PS3 should be plugged into the same line -- not just the same circuit down at the breaker box, but plugged into outlets that use the same wires.

Also, consider using TOSlink optical audio if you have the option.
