    Lightroom stuff

Thought we could put together a little thread about all the stuff you can do with Lightroom beyond the basics.

I like SV websites, but iWeb on my mac makes it pretty simple to make a clean, easy website.

If you have the quick-Develop pane open with Tone Control, etc. extended, you will see Clarity change to Sharpen and Vibrance change to Saturation. Your keywords (if shown) will display how many images are in that particular keyword. If you’re in Develop mode, you’ll see the settings give you an option to reset.

hold down ALT while adjusting things like exposure and you will see a negative view, so you can see exactly where you are clipping detail

Good thread. I love Lightroom but I feel like I don't know enough about it yet.

Excellent! I have yet to really extend my use of LR beyond the basics and this thread will be very helpful - thanks.

It doesn't seem to be showing up in my lightroom. what's the preset called?

I have it in my /Library/Adobe Lightroom/Develop Presets/ folder on my powerbook.

//edit: had to put it in a different directory. Also, the preset doesn't seem to do nearly as good as the examples you showed :io:

maybe my pics just aren't right for it or something

well it needs to be RAW, (for that one anyway, who knows what a jpeg would look like), and its based on a flat image to start. you can always adjust it to taste, then "update with current settings" to save it to match your specific needs :hs:

Print with a Border other than stroke

find a border (istock has a ton)
    open PS
    [IMG]

get rid of white, save as .png
    [IMG]

    open LR
go to print module, select identity plate, edit, select graphic identity plate, browse for file
    [IMG]

    rotate or scale to fit

    rough example

I've had a bitch of a time printing to PDF with it, but actual prints are fine. PDF's just look like ass, but maybe its a setting somewhere :dunno:

yeah, I was using a RAW image. I'll play around with it some more when I have my external hooked up and have access to all my images.

It works fine on certain Jpeg images (I've used it a couple times) but it does work better on RAW

I've used that preset along with some other ones...they never come out perfect but I just find it as a good base to start from. Other times I start from scratch but I always look at them with a preset and see if it's somewhat what I'm looking for.
