considering they hadn't done speed optimization before releasing the beta's, I'd hope so :hs:

Yeah, if it wasn't as slow I'd use it a lot more.

what do you think of the program, besides teh slowness? I think it's really nice for making quick adjustments to levels, etc but I find that 90% of my work goes into PS anyways.

Lightroom isn't a replacement for Photoshop but rather more of a complement with some overlapping features. Lightroom's purpose is to convert RAW photo files into a compressed image format such as JPEG or TIFF that can be read without special software. Shooting in RAW and using a program such as Lightroom or Apple Aperture give you more flexibility in your photos, such as exposure or white balance adjustments.

I like lightroom for converting raw...but if you do any serious pp I can't really do shit with it.

CS3 should hopefully step it up in terms of raw conversion built in.

    try it

it replaces bridge for organizing, batch editing, rating, keywording etc
its the best RAW engine available IMO
It has the best print driver short of a stand alone RIP
It can make quick html or flash web sites
it can do slideshows with music and text
It allows for 3rd parties to develop more modules or presets that are user installed (see lightroompresets.com for some develop module presets)

no shit, but if you're spending all your time doing pixel level editing in photoshop theres something wrong.

which leads to another important feature, lightroom can edit JPEGS in metadata and not at the pixel/destructive level

ACR 4.0 will be similar in features, but Lightroom is a workflow tool, not just a RAW engine

meh....I do nothing destructive to any of my images.

And honestly I hate how lightroom organizes photos, if you can't do that on your own you're a failure. I do like its slideshow though....I rarely use slideshows.

That isn't to say that for non personal projects all I'll use is lightroom, its a huge time saver in the right circumstance.

well I must be a failure, along with a LOT of people enjoying photography.

without tags, I need to sort them either by place, date or other stuff. With tags, I can get the same picture when I pull an albums form a place, from a date, even frompictures only of a certian things. I can also sort out the ones from different cameras, the ones I eidited or not.

maybe other programs use tags, but IMO lightroom makes the workfloow a lot easier to do.
