so my girlfriend found the processing in LR and now she's really into it. The great thing is that she does the tags and framing, but then she does a little too much processing... it's artistic and it seems her friends like it on Facebook hehe.

I think I have to try and get her to tone down the edits. How can we have multiple versions of one picture in LR, so she can still play and I get a normal one to upload too?

well it started by only doing some sepia and B&W on some pictures, most of them I didn't really care.

But after getting some good comments on them from her friends, I guess she thought she should start doing more pictures and more changes,.. and that's when it turned bad. I uploaded the last set yesterday and was like, oh shit I think I need to go back into LR and put some pictures back to normal.

It gave me a laugh when I started looking at them, but now I really need to tell her to slow down on edits

She needs the honest criticism of OT'ers to let her know what's up. Can't get butt-hurt over it either.

    Cute girl though.

I posed this in the LR thread but no one's there. Maybe you guys can answer:

is there a way to write title data directly to an image? Like "Sherry - Easter 1966" or something? I want to put the writing on the back of scanned images into the picture data so it's not lost and can be identified.

at first i was a preset whore. then i realized that a) processing more than 20 pics makes me want to kill myself and b) they look better with just minor corrections

really? it's not that hard. I agree though about the minor corrections - but sometimes you want sepia tone or B&W, etc

Do you mean like re-name the file? You can always just add keywords. Then when you want all the pictures from "easter" every picture that has the keyboard easter will be displayed.

well, like if I took all the photos and put them on smugmug - they'd already have the info embedded in them to say what they were.

So I just put that in the "Keywording" box?

    I'm a meta noob.

I need really specific stuff, sentences. Stuff you'll never remember. Like "Sherry and Karen on rock made of slate at Yosemite State Park 1966"

    1.Upload to Facebook
    2.Tag sherry and karen
    3. add caption "rock made of slate at Yosemite State Park"
    4.??????
    5. Profit!

Or go in to light room then:

    Library>Metadata>Dropdown menu>All or Show All> Caption/Title>Enter info.

yeah FB is out - I'm talking 1,000's of family photos, plus I'll want to have full quality posted. Smugmug for sure.

I'm having trouble finding Caption or Title you mentioned. There is a Library Menu, and a Metadata menu, but neither have a Caption or Title option.

I'm using Lightroom 2.4 if that helps.

FOUND IT! It's on the right below the Histogram, way way down. I never scrolled down there yet. I just collapsed all the rest of the menus so I can see it easily. Thanks.
