    it's out and

Open files in Photoshop as Smart Objects. (This way you can tweak your Lightroom adjustments within Photoshop just by double-clicking the Smart Object layer that contains your raw file.)

Select multiple images to merge as a panorama

Merge multiple exposures into a single Photoshop HDR image

Load multiple files (or virtual copies of a single file) into Photoshop as separate layers in a single document

Lightroom 2 adds a Retouch tool right within the Develop module. That means you can paint regions of the image to dodge, burn, saturate/desaturate, adjust contrast, and more. Edits are stored as metadata, just as all other LR adjustments are stored, and are applied directly to your raw images.

    Library Module:
    Streamlined Library layout

Smart Collections (based on search criteria)

Powerful Filter Bar to search and refine images

    Suggested Keywords for simplified keywording

10,000 pixel size limit raised to 30,000 pixels

    Output-based collections

    Multiple monitor support

Four flexible modes for an alternate window: Grid, Loupe, Compare, Survey
    Live Loupe mode

    Export functionality:
Auto-add exported images to the Lightroom catalog

Auto Output Sharpening for images on export

    Develop Module:
Non-Destructive Localized Correction for dodging and burning specific areas of an image

    Post-Crop Vignette

    Basic Panel Keyboard Shortcuts

    Improved Auto Adjustment

Improved memory handling through 64-bit support on OS X 10.5 and Vista 64-bit.(Not limited to develop module)

    Print Module:
    Picture Package for multi-page layouts

Print Module output directly to JPEG

Enhanced Print Sharpening based on PhotoKit Sharpener algorithms

    16-bit Printing for Mac OS X 10.5

I imported 50k+ images last night and it now renders previews as fast as any other program like Picasa.

the ability to search through metadata is

Awesome. I've been getting used to 1.3 or whatever it is, so 2.0 is sure to be

I'd like it a lot more if their damn website would let me register to DL it.

It just returns something like "there was a problem with your registration, see error below"

Then the error says "an error has occurred, please try again". Perhaps I'll try again tonight.

As a side question, how do you all like lightroom for processing large numbers of images (like 1,000 ~ 1,500)? All I really do is adjust exposure, fix WB, and crop (and if it's an important image and crooked, I'll rotate it in photoshop). Sometimes I'll dick around with saturation contrast and sharpness (but only if it's an important image).

How well does it handle a gallery of 1500 RAW files and how much RAM do you have?

    global presets at import ftw

but batch editing is one of its purposes. Edit one photo and apply the changes to all or some.

only 2gb of RAM for now on both PC and mac, runs far better on mac.

What happens when the 30 day trial period runs out? Does it implode?

Seriously, I'd love to try it but since my current Lightroom was purchased by the original imac owner, I don't have the keys or passwords or whatever Adobe wants and I don't really want to try it for 30 days then revert back to my old version.

i just installed this and i'm sorta liking it. i DO like the web option much more than the past. i tried a quick gallery with it and i was really impressed. something didn't look right the last time i tried it(a couple versions ago). I LOVE how easy/fast it is to make the galleries in LR, but wasn't confident/happy before to show them to clients. I just e-mailed one to one of my latest couples. I might have to invest in the full deal when it is released.

but if thats not your method of madness, before the 30 days are up, select all and write metadata/xmp changes to the actual files. That way whatever you did is saved to the file and not lost if you give it up.

You can enable auto write the changes, but it slows things down as you work :hs:

So is it faster only on the MBP and 64bit machines? I hated it on my computer (3.4Ghz P4 HT, 2GB RAM) because of how slow it was. I just use photo mechanic and DPP/PS.
