Few pictures from tonight on my Canon 350d, kit lens. (first slr).

I know they're not well setup or anything, I just wanted to test out my new tripod and remote.

Just wanted to share because i'm excited about capturing lightning...

I dont know what settings is the standard, I didn't research it too much...i was just anxious to try a few things.

The way to "capture" it is leaving the exposure open though. I did alot of 10s shots, some 15s, and alot of bulb exposures for 2 minutes or so.

Camera was in shutterspeed priority mostly, and changed it to manual with f/4.

didn't mess around with the ISO at all, i think it was at 100.

    I hear ya.

Only ONE lighting storm this whole summer that was worth shooting.
It last 1 hour and I was at work during it.

I try to keep in mind good spots to go depending on which direct the lighting is coming in from. This way, if a storm is coming I can roll out to one of my pre chosen for ground spots and setup.

    Also,

This site helps me not waste time.
    http://home.comcast.net/~owswx2/nexstorm/stormvue.html

They got em setup all over the USA.
Just find one in your area. Then you can see where the lighing is heading.
