A&P Lighting quesion

    I just ordered one of these setups, except for the light. ive only got an SB-600 at the moment. but where do i get a light to put into the umbrella?

    the umbrella is meant to reflect the piercing light of your flash into a bigger surface area thus making the light of the flash softer...so, use the flash

    you use an umbrella-flash adapter that you can buy for about $10-15 from B&H

    it has a hotshoe and an umbrella hole that lets you mount the setup onto a standard lightstand.

    i know what the umbrella is for. and you guys are giving me the answer i already know. ive already got that hotshoe adapter for my flash. so can someone please answer my first question?

    i dont have $200 to spend on another flash right now. where the fuck can i buy a socket to mount to the stand that i can screw a light bulb into?

    oh yeah, your answer: home depot. Good luck getting a socket to work in there along side a flash.

    actually, i was gunna use one of those florescent screw kinda bulbs that dont generate as much heat.

    these links you guys are throwing out at me. ive got a d40 with no flash commander and an sb600. how do i get these slave flashes setup to fire with the on camera?

    I don't know anything about the D40 but if what you say is true (no commander mode), you won't be able to trigger a slave with the on-board flash.
