Doing things cheaply will net you nothing but trouble.

None of it is cheap, but you have to make less custom stuff for the FD swap.

Porsche 944/968 will take a v8 quite well, and it's a wonderfully balanced chasis. Can even retain the stock transaxle, etc

    RX7/LS1

any other 350 will weigh more, make less power, and use more gas

The rx7 is one of the best chassis out there for this swap, it fits perfectly, is light, and with the LS1 makes for a mean street/auto-x/drag in my opinion its one of the best multiuse swap cars out there.

Im not sure if external links are allowed on this site but if they are

If not my apologies to the mod's and please delete it and shoot me a pm informing me of this.

That's true, and if you go this route, check out Renegade Hybrids, they make a kit with everything you need to do this right.

In addition you can go to hinsonsupercarscom for information on LSx swaps in 240sx or FC/D chassis.

I prefer LS2 in 89-91 240sx coupe with couple bolt ons and six speed manual.

I'm in the middle of the LS1 RX7 swap, so that gets my vote.
