Where do I go to check out stuff for lifting competitions in the NW (seattle)? Do they have raw meets or does everything usually allow gear? I'd like to go check one out and see where I need to get to not embarass myself if I decide to compete.

Dont let that be your deciding factor. Go have fun, everyone in powerlifting is supportive. Doesnt matter if you are a 1200lb double ply total @ 308 or a 2000lb raw total @ 198. Its fun.

Are there some organizations that are better than others to start with?

    doesn't really matter

my first meet was a huge one with like 80-100 people , took all day. and it was APF/AAPF so everyone was in gear except for me and maybe a handful of others :o there were women outsquatting me and outbenching me. i squatted 440 and benched 320 too

I see a WABDL meet on 9/13, maybe I'll shoot for that. It looks like bench and deadlift only which is fine since my squat still really sucks. Do they have a 181 class also? I think I could bench 300 and pull 405 by then.

I can see the results from USPL and they have every lifters results but I can't see that for WADBL, just the top finisher in each category.

How much help do bench shirts give you assuming you've trained with it for a couple months?
