I was wondering how sleep and muscle growth works. Does timber or anyone have an article on this?

Lets say I sleep six hours one night. Is there any advantage to napping for an hour later in the day? two hours? three hours?

Sleeping is when the body actually grows.

I'd definitely take a nap if I only got 6 hours of sleep. Not sure where I read it either, but I read that 20 minute naps are actually what you want if you are trying to get some energy. Anything longer will most likely make you just as tired if not more tired

Ya there called power naps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_naps

I already know about those. I was referring to the sleep process/cycle and when muscle growth occurs. I'm not looking for energy, I'm looking for growth and healing of myself. Is there an amount of sleep where you body heals itself more so than not? Are there cycles for self-healing that only start 90 minutes into sleep or when you enter REM before deep sleep?

    Does that make sense?

read up on sleep. I think no more than 8 hours is ideal but nothing less than 6.

I understand this. Can you make up for a short night of sleep with a nap later in the day? Or the naps a complete waste and you should just goto sleep earlier the next night.
