So Ive been feeling a bit guilty about lying to my S.O. about the number of sexual partners Ive had... I told her 7 when it's been way over (about 20-25). Even with 7 (which i thought I was playing it safe) she found to be a pretty high number. :eek3: I feel like it's too late to come clean now since we've worked so hard to get over that hurdle. Just one of those things that I guess if things work out will go to the grave with me. What are some things that you guys have lied about to "save" a relationship?

You really think telling her your real number would make her dump you. Well that's not love.

I currently can't think of any lies I've told to "save" the relationship.

Only lies I've ever told to save a relationship ended up doing more damage in the long run than the truth would have.

I think that she would think "if he has lied to me about this for this long, what else has he lied to me about" its not worth telling her the truth

Well at this point it's definitely not worth bringing up. It's one of those stupid things people should never ask their SO anyway.

i used to tell little lies when it came to her insecurities. if she was upset about putting on a little holiday chunk i'd tell her i couldn't notice. :dunno: i'm sure you're talking about more serious things though.

She's probably telling a white lie to you too... it's funny that you undershot with 7... usually guys inflate their number with more to sound cooler or more manly... and women usually undercut their number very heavily because they don't want to seem too slutty.

not really, just anything in general that you can think of... just curious to hear the things people lie about... nothing in specific

oh im sure she is... well i feel as if my number is pretty high even for men. There was a study that went around and it stated that if you were born in a certain year, according to the demographics, etc. you should have a certain number of sexual partners. Im way above it.

The SO and I were drinking the other night and this came up. I was thinking total lose-lose, but somehow we both came clean. What's funny is that he admitted telling his ex-fiancee he slept with 4 because he was her second.. :mamoru:

NO study has been, or ever will be accurate on sexual partners. No matter if you ask the most honest person you know they will either inflate or deflate their number. Guys typically want to be more than the norm to seem more manly, and women typically want to be less than the norm to ward off the slut factor.

Never discuss the number of sexual partners you have had in the past.

it's only going to fuck you over in the end. You shouldn't have to lie to her about it.

that's not entirely true, we're not talking numbers people tell other people, but there have been fairly accurate sociological studies done based on many factors such as demographics, age, etc. that come up with a decent range/average. Sure, some people are going to be outliers.

No. Because the "love" was based on false premises.

I would probably dump my gf if she told me one day "so i lied about my number, it's actually 25."

The opinions i have about her would be based on incorrect data :dunno: In other words, a) she wouldnt be the person i thought she was and b) she misrepresented herself to me.

    ymmv

This is why I avoid this conversation at all costs. Unless you guys are pretty equal on the playing field, someone will always get hurt. As for now, don't go back and admit it. It'll just stir the pot even more. :dunno:
