It's worth bearing in mind that Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have a larger and generally broader range of vehicles on offer than Lexus.

Compare the 5 (including the worthless SC430) models that Lexus offers in the UK, to the 17 (not counting Smart or Maybach) of Mercedes, 8 from BMW (not including MINI) and the 6 from Audi.

Even so, it is still a pretty huge disparity, and I reckon the guy from Cardiff is on to something. Either Lexus is a little bit too bling for European tastes, or we just won't pay for a rebadged Toyota.

give it a few years. i'm sure lexus will gain more market share. they make great if a bit sterile luxury cars. they should probably proudce another stylish, compact model for european markets. the IS is good but a subcompact to compete with the 1-series and A-class would probably be a good idea.

Lexus aren'r really connsidered luxury cars here...they're simply expensive Japs.

Actually i don't know ANYONE who owns a Lexus.

Weird thing is i can't see myself ever buying a Lexus either - although i know they're great cars.

image & marketing ftw i guess :dunno:

I feel the same way myself. Its just an expensive Jap car and not a true luxury car.

what exactly is a "true" luxury car? one that has electrical problems? or do you mean one that costs $300 to change the oil?

lexus has reliability going for them, and some nice luxuries. it lacks taste :(

i currently own a Lexus IS300 and it lacks the performance to the A3/A4/3 Series. unless fi'd, the is300 is slow :(

lexus doesn't offer tiny 2.0 litre engines that euros like
and if euros choose bmws and mercedes with electrical problems that strand them on the side of the road over lexuses, then that's the sort of mentality that will leave them behind in the world economy in the 21st century.

yeah those are all yakuza-mobiles but they are fuckin hardcore

europeans are more concerned with class, and showing off. Which is why Audis are for old people in germany. Young people drive the Bimmers, Middle aged drive the Mercedes, and Grandma and Grandpa drive the Audi. And if youre a starving artist you drive a VW.

Driving dynamics has just as little to do with the buying decision as it does in the states.

No one wants to drive a Lexus because thats not the status quo.

GOTTA KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY
