Adorama has the Lexar 8 GB, 133x Professional High Speed Series, Compact Flash Memory Card with Write Acceleration for $120 - $70MIR = $50 + $7 shipping. You must add to cart to see the lower price.

    rebates ftl

I'm sure their fine, but the only card I've ever had go bad is a lexar and the one they sent me in return only registers at half the capacity

  6. And the reason Lexar and Sandisk are selling all these 8gb cards for cheap?

    Why?

Becaue they're overstocked, couldnt sell them at huge outrageous prices once the new hotness is released!!
And now they are (about to bring in or already have) hot new product so they have to get rid of the old stuff.

120 is still a decent price for a high speed 8 gig. the $70 check that comes a couple weeks from now is good drinking money. :)

I've had a lexar fail on me. I've got three of their 1gb 80x cards.

One was part of a recall, i did an advanced RMA on it for like $5 and they never asked for the other one back!

I just have to remember that on occasion the one that was part of the recall WILL take a big dump. So it's a last resort if i fill up all my cards (unlikely).

Having 8gb worth of photos stored on a single card frightens me a little. Sure losing a gb or two is bad enough.. but 8gb?? That's like 800 photos on my 20d if i'm not shooting in RAW.

I have a 2 GB Sandisk Extreme II right now, and when I plug into my 7-in-1 media reader on my computer tower, it takes fucking forever to finish loading all the pics for previewing. I can't imagine waiting for 8 GB worth of shit to finish.

Side note.. is your card reading running USB2? Cuz mine isn't.. everytime i unplug the shuttle and plug it back in the system bitches at me.. and i'm sure that if it were running USB2 it'd be easier to live with.. feeling your pain

I'm clueless about computers. All I know is that mine has a hole in the front that says CompactFlash and when I plug my card in it pretty pictures show up on my screen.
