I want huuuuge ones. Back when I was able to lift I would do shrugs and cleans for them. Now that I can only do resistance training, I'm using a couple bands for band pullaparts, and i stand over two mini's with a wide stance and do resistance shrugs.

What have people had success with?

Any idea at what point of the deadlift does it stress the traps the hardest? Maybe theres a way to modify the ROM of the DL to work traps harder? I also heard snatch grip DL's a while back

    Shrugs & upright rows...

    Some would add heavy squats.

If you deadlift heavy, the fact that you lock your back should provide plenty of stress on the traps IF there's no other lagging body part that would keep you from going heavy enough to work the traps.

you could probably do pin pulls if you're looking to isolate traps? :dunno:

also, lateral raises work pretty well for me

shrugs on the incline bench work pretty well, too (lay on your stomach, not your back)

I've got a fucked up knee, the ligaments and shit are outta place and needs to be surgically repaired. it will be done after this semester... going for my pre-op next wednesday. lifting heavy shit is a problem right now because i'm one tweak or leaning the wrong way away from having to have emergency surgery and not being able to finish the semester. so i do band training in my room and keep it from everyone b/c im not willing to lose the size i would lose from taking an entire semester off -> having surgery -> 8 weeks of physical therapy to get functional again.

Because bands don't require actually lifting anything. I can't walk with dumb bells or plates in my hands right now. Hell, even carrying a gallon of milk on one side of my body throws me off just enough that my knee feels like its about to pop out every step. I'm literally just trying to hold off surgery til i can afford the time for recovery :hs:
