    Anyone do clean and jerk, snatch, or variants in their workout?

    I've been going light on snatch to make sure my form is good, but I've really been improving in my hang clean.

    Yeah, I think they are very effective in both lower and upper body development.

    i don't do them very often becuase they aren't allowed in school gyms :)hsugh:) although usually the people working come up and say, "hey you aren't supposed to be doing that. i don't care, but just letting you know."

    best power snatch is 215. haven't cleaned a long time, so i don't remember.

    I think oylmpic lifts are dumb unless you're an o-lifter or have a coach who knows what they're doing. In that case, rock on.

    Of course people can still benefit from power cleans, push press, power snatch, etc. I'm talking about the full movements like you'd see in competition.

    thats pretty good. I'm going to start doing snatch more this upcoming Fall, I'm just on a maintence lifting program til August.

    I'm 6'1 175, and my best clean is about 195. I've just started this sort of lifting this year.

    My coach definitely knows what he's doing. He'll be going to Vegas this fall to do the national Strong Man competition after he got 2nd in the Florida competition :hs:

    i'm thinking about doing the strongman contest that student rec is putting on. i'll get my ass beat, but it looks fun. :o

    I haven't heard about this. We usually have an "Iron Gator" competition, with like 3 events and they have to add up to so much weight.
