You're watching a really bad alien movie on SciFi right? I was just flipping through the channels and saw the same thing.

The chick is kinda hot though.

I bought 500rds of AP HE 5.56mm at the latest fun show. The guy let me have them for just $2.25 apiece. He said that he used them when he was a Navy Seal 10 years ago and when he shot someone in the arm, it followed the bone as it exploded. Badass. I think he did a lot of yelling while he was a SEAL though (mentioned that a lot) since he was always talking in a hushed whisper.

They are Raufoss rounds. Nammo makes them. They're made in the city of Raufoss and that is where they got their name.

They have less than 1/4 ounce of HE in them, so the round itself doesn't need to be licensed. They are sick expensive though, prepare to spend 50 bucks on one round. They pop up on gunbroker pretty often.

Ya think it might be a factory cutaway w/putty instead of HE? They couldn't have cut a round in half because the penetrator isn't cut in half . . . .

Someone label that cutaway pic. I would have thought the HE would be after the penetrator. You know, punch a hole, then blow it up. That's how I thought they worked anyways.

the penetrator works as the detonator -- the high-impact cause ignition. There's so much velocity that it still goes into whatever the target is and blows it up.

"The ICRC conclusion is that the ammunition is illegal against personnel, and the concern is how to prevent the projectile from being used in an anti-personnel role in the event of war."

Figure that one out. What the fuck does it matter if you use it on personnel or not? You're shooting them with a .50 caliber bullet. I doubt they're going to survive that experience by itself, so who cares if you happen to blow them up at the same time? Jesus Christ.

I am not taking a side on this one. But their reason stated for having such a distinction is due to their determination of what are "humane" and "inhumane" ways to kill each other. :hsugh:
