Hey guys, lets get a post going with the best dvd burning techniques. Give some steps as to how its done. What software do you use, and how is the quality in the end.

I am going to start soon and was thinking of trying DVDXCOPY, anyone have any opinion on that??

    Hi,

I went on some sites for burning my first dvd backup tonight with my new dvd writer. I tried DVDClone with AnyDVD but for some reasons my comp restarted... Weird. I almost tried Nero but I saw on other post that Nero wasnt recommended because of compatibility with home dvd player... Finally, I got it and it worked and that's how I did it :

    - I used DVDShrink to save the dvd files in my computer, I deleted the feature that I didnt want to be able to burn it on a 4,7go DVD+R (I was kinda anxious to put compression to Level 8 for the main movie)
    - I used CloneDVD to burn "titles on my hard disk"
    - The burining worked just fine, I tested the quality with my DVD Player and my TV and it was really nice...

So that was how I did it

If you have any questions, shoot them, I'll be glad to help you.

For the .avi file on a DVD, I really don't know, I burned my first backup DVD tonight but I guess I'll search a bit to find a way.

Go here and learn about encoding and burning www.doom9.org. A lot more info if you use their forum and search for what you need.

Really nice site, but kinda hard to find a simple way to burn a dvd backup without 3 or 4 software on it...
