Don't you mean great mistakes? Have fun in your smerfs and try not to pass out during drill practice.

Because I spent four years in Marine Corps ROTC, surrounded around Marines, and I joined the Navy to be a corpsmen with the Marines.

    Good Luck.

Are you thinking about going into RECON Corpsman in the future?

Also, do you have to volunteer to be a corpsman with the Marines, as opposed to other less dangerous corpsman duties?

I was looking into the Corpsman job, but I would only like to do it if I could go in the field.

FMF is one of the duty stations a corpsman can get, you have to want it and there has to be a billet open. It's not like you just wake up one morning and you're told "Oh by the way, we're sending you to an FMF today".

A guy I knew back in Hawaii went from FMF to IDC and went subs. Cool dude though.

I understand and do not want to be called a Marine, I want to be called "doc" if I can earn that title. Ah well time for an avatar change anyway i've that that avatar now for years, from back when I was in HS. So now a tribute to the best plane ever made :).

    <-------

Oh and as far as seeing people pass out, my first year of JROTC some chick passed out near me and it was freaky, her eyes were all rolled back in her head, and her left arm was back all wierd. Its kinda funny watching people go nose first into the ground.

But two weeks from today i'll be in a hotel in San Diego waiting to go to meps the next day :noes: Then great mistakes here I come for about 5 months :hs:

The difference being, you'll get a break from the heat in Chicago. Orlando during the summer is just pure ass all day/night. Awful.

The plus side is you'll have access to a kick ass city with a ton of stuff to do. Also, I'm sure Gurnee Mills Mall in Gurnee and Baby Dolls in Zion will be stops on the tour while you're there. :)

What was the significance of Tuesdays there for you guys? I knew a few of the girls at Baby Dolls and they always used to dread Tuesdays because all the guys from Great Lakes would show up. Or it seemed that way to them anyway.

was it cheap drink night at the club?

We had a club near the base in Pearl Harbor, Tuesday and Thursday was dollar draft night:o. That place was ALWAYS crowded on those nights...usually with guys from the 2 bases:o.

i went to great lakes in august of last year and it sucked balls. so fucking hot and humid. hopefully you get a good division because the RDC's work you out less if you do things right. HM a-school is right across the street from RTC, but at least when you get there you will have more liberty than at boot camp.

if you have any questions about basic i can answer them.

  19. My friend did that and he had a blast at great lakes. Good luck dude.
