Just need to know a few things:
    (1) Will I lose anything/everything I have saved on my HD like when you upgrade from XP to Vista?
    (2) Do all of the core programs work (i.e. iChat, MS office, iTunes) with this system?
    (3) Any problems with getting hardware to setup? I just got my MBP and what to make sure that I'm not going to run into driver issues when I install this.

Thanks for the help, and excuse some of the more seemly elementary questions.

Yeah. I mean, if you don't run parallels then you can probably keep leopard on, but I like to at least have the ability to run it without it crashing every time.

I forgot, but I installed Photochop CS2 on leopard and afterwards my fans would not turn off.

You could always install it on a partition and play around with it.

    1) if you do a clean install yes, if you do an upgrade no
    2) most things work for me, i haven't used ichat yet (i don't use it at all), so i couldn't tell you.
    3) no driver issues

if you're new to the mac, i wouldn't recommend doing the upgrade till things are finalized...it does have it's quirks.
