    they retail for like 200+700$... but i'll take your word for it :x:

    the 70-300 is pretty basic and not much more than a couple hundred dollar lens. The other one isnt too bad, but its not as good a straight f/2.8 lens and I havent heard a ton about that particular one. Nice Sigmas are pretty ok, but the basic one is certainly nothing special.

    ah, ok thanks for the info. i'm just trying to find more options other than my 18-55mm that came w/ the camera...

    mostly zoom/macro..

    not too worried about wide angle..

    What kind of quality and price range are you looking for?

    tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is a decent zoom and has "macro" capabilities.
