I'm going to be in Seattle for SeaFair and I want to rent a lens to get pics of the airshow and hydroplane races. I was thinking the 70-200mm F/2.8L IS, would that be satisfactory for shooting from the lakeside? Also, I looked around and found like 3 shops, and http://www.glazerscamera.com/rentals.html seemed the cheapest. Are there any better places to rent?

    cliffs:
    1. 70-200mm F/2.8L IS good enough for airshow and hydroplane pics?
    2. Glazer's Camera best place to rent?

theres 2 options, well 3 really

    Glazers
    Optechs
    Online and have it shipped

Glazers and Optechs are on the same street. Glazers is much much larger and has more available.

70-200 is good, there may be times you want longer.

Shooting from Seattle side? We live on Mercer Island so we jsut walk out onto the bridge and shoot into Seattle

here's a few from last year with a 70-200 on a 1.3x body to show what you'd get framing wise. if you want wider or longer, adjust accordingly.

try to get a 2x teleconverter too imo, or a 400mm if u can afford it. youll be shooting in daylight so it not having 2.8 with the TC shouldnt be so bad, and u wont regret having the extra reach.

I rent from glazars every time i do a rally that its going to be dusty, so their Nikon 70-200's might be a little dirty :mamoru:

They just put a hold on a cc for 1500 i think, then yeah its 25 a day

optech's is only 1/2 the value deposit :wtc:

or you can open an account with glazers and not have the deposit, but I never heard back from them after I submitted my shit :hs:
