I am looking at 18-125mm lenses

would the sigma lens without HSM still auto focus on my D80 (since it has a built in AF motor)?

would basically any lens auto focus with the D80?
I could not find any direct information via google

thanks, i was not confident in the wording I read :)

also, what is the overall opinion of the Sigma 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 DC IF Aspherical Zoom lens.

I currently have a Sigma 24-70mm (for portrait and lower light close action) and Nikon 70-300mm (nature and animals). I am looking for something between the two, a good walk around lens. The Nikon is to telephoto to use all the time and the sigma does not have enough focal length for a lot of situations

My walk-around is a 35-70 so what do I know. :dunno:

If you're looking for one of those do-it-all focal length lenses the only one I would recommend is the 18-200 VR.

I was looking at that to, just seeing what less expensive options there were.
in the 18-200 how is nikon vs sigma?

I am happy with the two lenses I have so far. the quality is great.
is sigma a generally less expensive, but just as good, alternative to nikon lenses?

    Less expensive, yes.

    Just as good--not so much.

I haven't read anything on the 18-200 OS.
