not sure if that link will work for you.

looking at the list i see the differences are

    digital vs slr + digital
    mount type
    internal focusing.

does anyone have any other information that would help? im really confused as theres a pretty big price difference in the two....maybe its just a monday issue with me but im lost :o any help is appreciated guys

I believe the new 18-200 is pretty much the same with the addition of a zoom lock switch. I'm pretty sure the optics are the same.

    V2 has:
    zoom lock
    less lens creep
VR2 which is supposed to improve VR by a full stop

btw: Posting from Vistek in Edmonton :p

since the new one is IF, does it still have the lens creeping issue?

The older one was internal focusing also and it had the lens creep. The lens creep has more to do with zoom than focus.

Lens creep is not that big of a deal, so don't use this as a selling point. However, if the lens creep is fixed because of IF, then i'd definitely say it is worth it.

The old 18-200 was VRII as well. This is just the zoom lock.

The original was not VRII, the new one is. They have different VR versions.

Unfortunately by moving VR to the end of designation, Nikon have lulled people into assuming rather than doing any actual research, it would seem.
