I have a little cash left to purchase a lens for my 40d. I currently only have the 28-135 it came with.

Which one should i get? Heres a list of the ones im considering... if you have any other suggestions please let me know.
    Thanks!

So out of all these if you had to choose 1 lens which would it be? It doesnt have to be one of these listed below. I just have enough cash for just 1 lens and possibly an external flash. So i want to make the right choice.

Canon - 17-40mm f/4L USM Ultrawide Zoom Lens

    Canon - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Ultrawide Zoom Lens

Canon - 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens

Canon - EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens

Canon - 70-200mm f/4L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens

    Tamron - 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens

    Tamron - 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens

    Tamron - 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens

Canon - 17-40mm f/4L USM Ultrawide Zoom Lens (yes)

Canon - EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Ultrawide Zoom Lens (yes)

    Canon - 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens (maybe - I'd pick the 70-200 f/4 L over it)

Canon - EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens (no - possibly the shittiest lens ever made)

Canon - 70-200mm f/4L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens (yes, had it and loved it)

Tamron - 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens (too much range, to cheap of price = shitty quality)

Tamron - 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens (see above)

Tamron - 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens (see above)

If you haven't decided on what you want to buy yet, buy my Tamron 17-50. It's a great lens, but I shoot almost exclusively sports now and the AF is ever-so-slightly too slow for basketball.

The front "element" (because it's not the actual element, but more like a protective thin piece of glass or something) is lose, but held in place securely with a strip of electrical tape. You don't even notice it really and it doesn't affect image quality. If you're interested I'll provide you with some samples. $350 Paypalled and shipped.
