My girlfriend was chased to her car the other night by 3 guys at Detroit Metro Airport. It was 4AM in a parking garage with no one else around. Bad decisions were made to put her into that situation to start with, but had she had a gun would she be within her right to defend herself with it? We've been discussing getting her a small gun to carry and a CCW.

Any suggestions on which gun to get? She wants something small to carry in her purse, and prefers revolver. Maybe something hammerless, but I haven't paid much attention to smaller guns before.

touchy situation but i say yes. 3 guys to 1 girl is odds enough to fear for your life. i would have pulled it but not immediately shot

the reason i say yes is b/c my brother and his friend were jumped by 6 guys and he pulled his. cops arrived, arrested him, got the story, then let him go b/c it was justified to pull it

That's what I was thinking too. She didn't go into the airport, just saw her sister to the door and walked back to her car. It was so late that no one else was around and the only cop car within seeing distance was empty because she walked by it to see if someone was in it to help.

Like you said being 3 guys vs. 1 girl I would have to imagine any of the authorities wouldn't be opposed to her at least pulling it and using it if necessary.

Remember its not even up to the police to decide if you're going to be charged.

Do you mean 3 guys ran after her to her car, 3 guys followed her? I think its best to take it out of the context of "can I do it now" because that seems like its asking when you get to. The best way to me is to think when do i have no other choice but to use my weapon to save my life. Take some training classes, feel confident in telling someone to stop there and not to come any closer, know when to not do things like walk through a parking garage at 4am without an escort if you can help it.

In general I would expect something like a woman getting chased through a parking garage and pulling a handgun would be acceptable. If they continued to advance, shooting would probably also be self defense. If they stopped and she shot it might not be. Talk to a lawyer too because this advice is worth what you paid for it.
