So i am trying to get my legs back in line with my upper body, and have been using the squat machine, extensions, hamstring, and calf raises...

I know its shit compared to squats/deads, but my lack of form worries me about reinjury.

Should i try the smith machine for squats? just go superlow weight until i get good form? or stick with my machine routine?

I tried deads last week in my routine, but i could feel a difference in leg strength that made me stop it after a set.

    any advice would be appreciated

Machines are more likely to cause an injury then free weights

If you are gonna try using the smith and are using machines, I'd rather do real squats with a low weight for now untl you get the form 100%

Dont use the smith...from what I've gathered from others...it locks you into a motion that is not natural for YOUR body. Thus it could further irritate your knee's, hurt your back, etc.

yeah man, don't use the smith. Start with light weights and make sure your form is perfect and gradually add weight.

Are you saying that you tore your ACL and you want to know what to do for rehab? Or are you worried about tearing your knee while lifting?

the deal is that i never really fully rehabbed it... I should have an additional surgery where they go in with a scope and "shrink" the acl to tighten up the joint...

I lift regularly, and put in a day a week on the leg machines to attempt to keep the semi-on par with the rest of my body.

I want better overall gains, and i think leg mass and the HGH released from training my legs with help do that.

My non injured leg is stronger than the other, so in freeweight situations, i think it impacts my form. So i am curious how i should get equal, and able to squat/dead...

I had a cartilage tear in my knee (not as bad as ACL, obviously) and i had orthoscopic surgery on it to repair it. it took some time for it to get back in shape with it.

I'd go low with the weight and see how it goes.

The key to rehabing a knee trauma is starting out really light. You need to start the leg work from nearly zero. Start with super light weight and PERFECT FORM on everything and continuously add weight each day/week.
