too many different machines out there to compare to others but in my opinion, your legs are very strong

Do squats too. I personally stopped doing legpresses all together.

Hmmm....thats what I do, but I dont consider myself strong.

Alot of guys are doing around 540. One person at the gym was doing something like 630 for reps (14 plates)

We have a 45* leg press at one of my gyms and its not on rails, it basically just pivots around a point. Thats the best type of leg press I've ever used. I'm not a big fan of the sliding ones. The movement is too awkward.

Squats.....how much should I do? two plates of 45lbs?

So leg press and squats are supposed to work the same exact muscle group?

Squat works the whole posterior chain. Just start low, work on form, start putting more weight up~

    Same.

I was aiming for 1000 on the leg press (got to 860) then realized I was missing out on 3/4th of my benefits by doing leg press instead of squats.

Sure, the numbers aren't as impressive (365), but I feel like I'm getting a whole hell of a lot more out of it.

I dont see what the problem is with leg press. Funny how everyone bashes it yet you go to the gym and all the true broly's are using em.:ugh:

But I will start using it less to do squats as that makes me stabalize.

    There's nothing wrong with them.

That said, given the choice of only leg press or squats, one should take squats, IMO.

I think leg press is good for hypertrophy purposes but I don't really know how much of a carryover you get to the squat if you are concerned about numbers
