Found out the vision in my right eye is 20/25. That would explain my focus issues with irons and scopes. Looks like any bolt guns I buy from now on should be lefty if possible. Not too fun because my motor skills are dominant to my right side. :noes:

Blah Blah Blah. Just teach yourself the skills!

I'm a lefty but I shoot righty. I don't suffer from eye dominance problems, but most gun controls were designed for right handed people.

I'm ambidextrous at everything but writing anyways though.

:werd: I'm a lefty too, was taught to shoot righty when I was little, seems unnatural to try to shoot a rifle lefty now, handguns I shoot righty but can do lefty too.

I can't focus. The sights do not line up.

do what werm said or make your hands with an open triangle in the middle look at something and pull your hands closer to you face... without thinking about it your hands should close in on one eye...

im RH but have to shoot LH due to an eye injury I sustanded when I was 8. I still shoot right handed bolt guns. and its just natural to me.

I shoot lefty but I don't have any problems shooting right handed semi-auto weapons, even AK's I've learned how to shoot so hot brass doesn't hit me in the face.:hsd:

I am a lefty but can shoot equally as well with both left and right, I only own one left handed gun and that is my Rem 700 hunting rifle.

For my semis I get righty firearms. I generally shoot lefty and I've never had a problem with cases ejecting at me. My Rem 870 is fairly ambi with the controls. The Glock I think is more for a lefty than a righty -- it's easier for my trigger finger to do the mag-release or slide-catch than my thumb -- so no need for extended controls :yay:. And the AR works great lefty... Although I recommend an ambi mag release for zombie-situations.

However, I will definitely want a lefty-built bolt action.... I saw a great Tamika at Sportsmans Warehouse and it had the smoooothest action I have ever felt (and it was a lefty)... But it was a .300 Win Mag :( If it were .308 Win or .30-06 Sprng I would have bought it.

psh, 20/25 is nothing. If I took my glasses off, I wouldn't actually be able to tell if there was text on the screen, and not just a blury darker area on the screen :wtc:

dunno what the actual ##/## thing would be for me, but my contacts are rated -4.00 in the left eye, -4.50 in my right. Thats worse than any of my grandparents :wtc:

My father is left handed, but right eye dominant.

Lets just say Marine boot camp was hell and he barely passed his rifle quals despite his DI damn near ripping his balls off.

Apparently they hadn't considered there could be people who had such a predicament, apparently (according to a couple of current DIs my father knows) they test for it in your medical exam and teach you to shoot accordingly.

Not to steer off topic, but my father swears his right ear lobe is a little bit shorter than his left one because when his DI would yell at him he'd pinch his earlobe so hard it'd start bleeding and little by little bits would be gone.

originally I wanted .300 Win Mag because "bigger is better" but then after talking to people it doesn't seem like a very "ethical" cartridge for hunting around here... Plus ammo costs are higher.

I like the .30-06 Sprng but I think the .308 Win is the best all-around choice considering take-down and ammo cost.

I'm right-handed, left eye dominant as well. Needless to say, I suck with long guns and I guess I need to start shooting left handed :sad2:

I'm lefty, but I can shoot righty off a bench if I really need to. I'm too uncoordinated and it takes too much concentration to focus with my right eye to shoot righty offhand.

Why would 300 win mag not be a very "ethical" cartridge for hunting?
