I'm left handed and left-eye dominant.

Were I to join up, would I be able to be issued a left-handed sidearm holster? Also... left-handed rifle shooting? I'm aware of the shell ejection issues when shooting left-handed (moreso w/ the rifle than pistol).

Are lefty shooters permitted/accomodated for? Or do they make you shoot right handed?

Youll just have to shoot a right handed rifle left handed.

Thx. I can (and have been) living with that.

Any idea about being issued a left-side holster for the sidearm?

M4 caters to left hand firers by diverting the brass from going backwards.

alot of people prefer to buy their holsters. I did.

Unless you're MP, Armorer, or Aircrew, you won't be carrying a 9mm. If you're aircrew, you'll be issued a shoulder holster. Even then, alot prefer to attach their holster to their armor/vest. I had a thigh holster.

Ah. Thx. I was under the impression (prob WW2 era) that all soldiers are issued a rifle and a sidearm. :dunno:

For some reason this reminded me of shooting the M16 and finding out that if you're right handed & left eye dominant = sucks :( thankfully i have played enough first person shooters to be basically an assassin so it didn't matter much...

Every ground guy should be able to fire with both hands anyways, but you can throw a brass guard on the M16 when at the range to keep the brass off of you.

We were issued blackhawk leg holsters in Iraq. I WAS (look at my avatar to see why I'm no longer a lefty) a lefty in Iraq and they gave me a left-handed drop holster. We were a DSU company and all Captains, coxswains, and sawgunners carried an M9 along with their primary rifle.
