I used to go shooting all the time with my father, but haven't been in quite some time. Sine then, my eyesight has gone to shit.

I'm curious, I'm left handed and would prefer to shoot that way. However, I have an eye condition (monovision) where I'm near-sighted in my left eye and far-sighted in my right eye. So, basically, my perscription corrects my right eye for distance vision and my left eye for reading.

So, can I shoot accurately holding a gun in my left hand while sighting through my right eye? Or am I going to have to learn how to shoot right handed now if I want an accurate shot?

I shoot lefty with right eye dominate. At least for handguns.

I shoot accurate enough to hit COM whenever I want.

But with rifles, i just shoot right handled. :o

When shooting a pistol it makes no difference as you can simply hold the firearm inline with your dominate eye. When shooting a rifle/shotgun you will have to shoot with your right side to shoot your best.

You can shoot fine, tilt the gun 15 degrees the to the right, it will line the sights up with your right eye

:wiggle::wiggle:from a left handed right eye dominate person

Although I just ended up learnign to shoot right handed, and then being great at offhanded shooting :o:o

Great. Thanks for the info. It gives me some motivation to get back into shooting. I'll pick back up lefty and then try learning to shoot right handed. My main concern was really for pistols. I don't mind shooting rifles right handed.

i'm the same way. i happened to pick up shooing rifles right handed before learning i was right eye dominant 3-4 yrs ago. i shoot handguns right handed for these 3-4 years and accuracy isn't a problem. i think it benefits me being able to shoot well with either hand.

This is a really bad idea, you should never tilt ANY firearm while shooting it! And you will be lucky to hit a barn with a tilted rifle. Hence the reason scopes must be leveled on the firearm to work properly.

Being cross eye dominant is apparently fairly common. I'm right handed, left eyed. I shoot the center out of my targets. Accuracy is just hours and hours of dry fire and live fire practice away. :wiggle:

I am right handed and left eye dom. I had to reteach myself to shoot rifles and shot gun left handed. It takes a bit of practice but in the end I am a better shooter now then ever I was before.

left handed, right eye dominant yet ranked expert as well as sniper detail.
I shoot pistols predominantly lefthanded in a modified weaver and shoot rifles righthanded.

The way you hold a weapon really doesn't mean as much to accuracy as practicing does. Hell if you practice shooting a gun between your legs long enough you will be accurate with it.

Right handed, left eye dominant here. I used to shoot with my left eye on pistols, but have since started training my right eye to take over for that kind of stuff :o
