Yeah, seems really quick for a sequel. I definitely did not get my moneys worth on this one. Hopefully, the sequel is better...

They should have it that if you bought the game on STEAM, then you get half off L4D2. Don't know what to say about 360 though.

This is almost the identical reaction Starcraft 2 got when Blizzard announced the campaign would be cut in to three parts. People settled down rather quickly after that when they realized it made sense, and that it was Blizzard.

The same goes for L4D2. It is in Valve's best interest to uphold the integrity of their name. I'm not too worried about getting robbed here.

Except there was a difference of 10 years. Starcraft 1 has been played to death. Their dev cycles are insane long.

True, but I don't think Valve will be charging $50/$60 for L4D2. The original was an experiment with a lot of incurable game mechanics. I could be wrong, but I think this is the best way to go with the series.

with all the effort valve is putting into keeping tf2 updates coming, and their overall impeccable game quality, i consider that steamforums thread to be a whine festival.

not every game that is released needs to be given some kind of grace period for a mod community to be established and start pumping out content. i dont see how valve is obligated to keep providing these people with maps and game modes... what the fuck, now i see that they even gave them a new game mode?

i understand the appeal of downloadable content, but am i im the only one who pays money for a game to enjoy just that, the content currently on the disk? - not whats coming down the pipe months down the road. If i wanted some type of continual content update i would pay $15 dollars a month like the rest of the fucking world and play an MMO

I can see where they are coming from, but when a company is as good with free DLC as Valve is, I would just let it go, and just hope that the next one is as well supported as their other projects, (looking at you TF2)

There are too many changes in L4D2 to make it a DLC. I have gotten my money's worth out of L4D and I'm looking forward to 2.

That forum is just full of whiners that want shit for free.

You would be right if it wasn't promised when the game came out.

A lot of people didn't feel that the game was worth $50 when it came out, and only felt it would be worth it if more things were released in the future.

I love Valve. I played the original half life in '98 and every game of theirs since. I'm happy to have L4D2. I put over 100 hours into the first and I don't mind paying for the second.

I'm not a big fan of Valve, but it sounds like these people are crying too much. The game only costs $50. They're acting like they have paid hundreds for a console or something.

EDIT: But yeah if they promised content that never came out, then that does suck. Same thing happens with most games though.

it wasn't a PR rep, it was Gabe Newell, the a co-founder and managing director at valve.
