I'm about to travel overseas in a few weeks for a period of under a month. I'd like to take with me a LED or Incadescent flashlight of some sort.

What's all the rage now adays and something that comes highly recommended? LED or Incadescent?

I'm not really willing to spend the money on a surefire product.. ONLY if it's the best and this is a long term investment.

But I'm looking for the brightest and cost effective solution.

TONS of options. Is battery availability a problem where you're traveling? What is the intended use? 2 stage? I like Incan's for lots of uses where fog or rain are present. But for general utility use, LED's are great. Luxeon lights are good, but the output of the new Cree and Seoul LED's are amazing.

I mean will you be camping in the woods for extended periods of time where you need a long running/ low intensity light? As to battery availability depending where you're going CR123 lithium cells might be hard/expensive to find. Check out the fenix line of lights. The L1D or L2D or similar might be just what you're looking for. Multi mode and run on AA's. www.fenixstore.com

No prob. To further confuse things here's what I EDC for lights. Fenix L0P (older single level AAA light) now modded with a Cree XR-E for flood. And a Surefire L4 with a 2 stage tailcap and 17670 rechargable Li Ion cell.
