ok so I'm training for a sprint triathlon (first tri I do) and plan on getting in even better shape and dropping a few pounds

the TRI is on May 19th and involves 500M swim, 22.8K Bike, and 5K run...nothing major, but not a walk in the park to me by any means

I am 6'0, and based on a caliper test have a BF% of about 18%...I have a 'gut' and a small frame...I've always been a tiny guy, just ballooned when I started working (sitting all day)...went from about 140 to 190

I am trying to get to 170ish and then do a clean bulk...I am 180 now...my goal is about 10% BF...enough so I can see some abs again and lose this gut

here's on average what my diet looks like...I try to stick to this pretty well but sometimes it's off a bit...I've been doing this on and off for about a year with very little results...I've dropped an inch on my waste, but I was also eating out twice a day fast food

morning (when I get to work, 9):
1 piece of whole wheat toast
    Peanut butter
    water

    mid-morning (10:30ish):
    1 yogourt (activa, plain)

    lunch (12):
    4 pieces of rye toast
7-9 pieces of lean turkey breast
    2 slices of cheese...varies
cesar salad with low fat dressing and about 10 croutons
    low cal cesar dressing
    fat free yogurt
    can of pepsi

    post lunch (3:00):
    a handful -> 2 handfuls of almonds

    dinner:
chicken/salmon/beef...rotating, but most of the time chicken
    2 medium sized chicken breast
side of one of the following:
    -white rice
    -vegetables
    -mashed potatoes
    cup of coke

    late night:
depending on mood, I might have something small, varies

    thats about it

You have a nice diet that follows the principles we're told generally, which means lots of diet food, too few protein and probably too few calories.

    thanks for the feedback

so if I keep this up another few month I should see more results?

I mean I am not looking for snap of the finger type of diet, I am looking for more of a lifestyle change and I understand that takes time, and it has...just very frustrating cause I went from honestly 2 fast food meals and eating whatever I wanted to a 'plan'...and from 0 excersise to almost daily

now that I look at this, the lunch portion seems a bit big...think cutting down lunch to maybe..3 pieces of toast and a bit less meat...or just keep at it?

I'm not going to do the work for you, especially since I made a long ass nutrition edu which should answer 90% of your questions.

I was looking at Ironman and it scares me. The TRI sounds cool. 500M seems doable for me with practice. Good luck.

you're saying I am following the guidelines, but I'm not seeing results, so me asking you for your opinion is me asking you to do work...my bad I see how that works :hsugh:

I'm saying you're doing what the general consensus is, and look around you, 60% people overweight and it's getting worse and lots of people with metabolic problems and type II diabetes. Look out the nutrition EDU sticky.

I was basically saying that you should change your plan, my bad if I wasn't clear enough.

choose 2 of the following, at least 3 times a week
swim about 1km a day, maybe more depending how i'm feeling
    run if it's nice out
not biking yet..waiting for it to get nice outside

    :o
