Air Force. 6 years, mechanical aptitude.
How old are you? Do you have a degree?
22, no degree.
good luck broseph
I'm 24 and seriously thinking about joining the military. What are your career goals? are you active duty?
Active, still uncertain on my goals. Went mechanic because that's what my parents wanted me to do, but I was thinking Security Forces, even though it sucks since I was interested in becoming a Forest Ranger.
Thats a shitty way to go in. Enjoy what you are doing, or it'll be the worst 4-6 years of your life.
I know. Figured that out after I got mechanical aptitude. Aerospace Maint. Apprentice was my 1st choice, Security Forces was my 2nd.
You said basic training and then you said Air Force, now I'm confused.
Sweet...I leave for Navy boot come Tuesday. I have a nice mixture of feelings at the moment.
Going into AF basic training monday.
Good luck--hope to see you in the fleet someday
Rate / prospected rank?
Prepare for lots of aircraft mx.
Or if you're lucky, maybe backshop or even vehicles.
If you're unlucky you'll get SF. Good guys, worked with them, but damn sitting at a guard shack all day checking vehicle IDs sucks.
They put me in a JOG program for admin and support. During boot I get to pick a wish list between SK, YN, PS, and AZ. SK will most likely be my first choice, then YN, AZ, PS. Any opinions would be great. Going in as E-3 as well.
Aircraft mx? Backshop? And why would it be lucky for vehicleS?
be glad you did not go in to SF.
That's what I keep hearing.
mx = maintenance.
I might have spelled that wrong.
Backshop = aircraft mx, but in a nice cool hangar, or even just working on individual LRUs (parts) at a workbench.
Vehicles = vehicle mx.
good luck taking a normal shit in the next 2 weeks
You'll never get in trouble for doing what you are told.
Enjoy warrior week.
