This would be my first post on here.. being that OT is hard to post on without an AV and no posts lol. (virgins are so uptight.)

But I am pretty excited and just figured i'd tell you guys, I finally got done with most of the paperwork and did my meps and all that.

I am going 03xx :noes: I have wanted to do it forever, I am 18 and graduated high school, started a Tech School and realized it wasn't for me. They were always trying to sell you stuff and you never got to really learning.

What are some things you'd tell someone to do to get ready. From your perspective that you wish you had done to prepare etc.?

Just make sure you get in shape.

Running, situps, pullups and maybe a little swimming.

And try and study up on some Marine Corps knoweledge.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

knowing all of your general orders before you leave will help you out. like vag said, get started on your running/crunches/pull-ups before you leave to prepare yourself.

def all the things said above and dont ignore the Marine Corps knowledge part, Besides that they are gonna break you down mentally and rebuild you the Marine Corps way. Yes boot camp is very physical and you want to be prepared for that although a big part of it is mentally turning you from a civilian to a Marine. At times its gonna be mentally trying and hard just remember that its gonna be over before you know it and the reward at the end is the best reward you could ask for. Believe me its worth it and at the end you will look back and laugh about alot of the things that happened. Not to mention the great stories you will have for friends and family when you get home..... Good luck and any questions you have about it def feel free to ask and pick our brains on the topic

Just a thought. If you like OT and want to stay here make sure you tell a mod of some sort you are leaving for boot camp. Otherwise your user name might get deleted for no activity.

thats what I did and it worked for me.

you'll have some people telling you to try and stand out and work on your leadership skills or whatever. Don't. there is more than enough time for that shit after boot.

Half of nearly all marriages in America don't work out. The military doesn't really decrease those chances. They dramatically increase those chances. The benefits may mount up and the end of your contract, but while you are in, your life can be hell, including what you said. You are not in control of your life, the military is. They may ship you off, and while your away, (as we like to say here on OT), your GF is probably going to get railed by 5 black guys (I'm joking.... sort of). Remember, she's doing whatever she's doing for her and her alone. If you are unable to do it, she will find someone else to do it for her, whatever that may be.

I heard the Marine Corps has been pussified. I even remember a thread about this in this sub forum. Perhaps he doesn't have to worry so much about Boot Camp.

    I guess.

Boot Camp is the best place to show off your potential talents to both the Marine Corps and yourself.

Perhaps, educational skills, leadership traits, strength, endurance, your ability to motivate others, sucking up your DI's to receive benefits later down the road, etc....

Just know, that Boot Camp is usually one of the most memorable moments in the life of the average Marine. Make sure it's something you want to remember and not something you regret.

Well, I took the dont be noticed route in boot camp and it worked out pretty well for me. I was only quarter decked 1 time the entire boot (does not include the pit/platoon i.t.). Just do what your told quickly and try not to fuck up too bad.

Being away from home lots of the bitches tend to stray.. same with the males. You hear about the shit and cheating that goes on-base housing.. they're not kidding. I've seen and heard so much.
