Ok, I'm going to start this off by saying that I'm not expecially strong / big, but I have come a long way since I started lifting. The day after tomorrow I'm leaving for Ft Benning, GA for about 14-17 weeks of Infantry Training. During this time I will be pretty much getting the workout of my life:hsd:, but as far as I know, I won't be able to do any serious heavy lifting:wtc:. Is everything that I have worked for going to be completely stripped from me? And if so, will muscle memory allow me to regain most of my numbers within a month or two? :x:

    Thanx.

BTW: Here's a link to my training log, even though I haven't been keeping it up very well the past week or so. LINK

    Army Infantry, yeah.

I run, but not regulary. I can do about five miles with reasonable ease and speed, but I know they will have me doing a lot more with some weight on my back.

I know I will technically be in much better shape when I get back, I just don't want to be struggling with benching 150lbs or something. :noes:

no, muscle doesn't just disapear over night. You will lose a lot of water and carbs will be lower, so you won't look as full but it's all still there

It won't go away when I'm not lifting for four months and I am doing a shit load of cardio?

I just remember that during the wrestling season, alot of the guys (myself included) lost a shit load of mass and strength.

you might lose a little, but it's gonna be minimal. You will lose strength, that's a given

just don't freak out after basic you step on the scale and weigh 20 lbs less, keep up the diet and training for about 2 weeks and you'll be right back to normal

I suppose your back will get a lot stronger though. Running while carrying a 100 pound pack must work out your muscles.

I am getting in it for the long haul, I will be going in w/ a college degree and plenty of life experience to not have some wild illusions. My dad was a green beret in Vietnam, I guess its a little like the family business....and business is booming. Anyway, I found out the army will actually sponsor my MMA fights and their healthcare will cover me when I get fucked up.

in all the bases ive been on, all the enlisted doods ive seen, ive come to one conclusion.
the majority arent huge, but lb for lb, have amazing endurance, and good strength for what they need it for. imagine an army filled with jacked mofos? everyone would be tired, their muscles would fatigue too quickly for the task at hand, and little skinny doods would run circles around em.. lol

In 2 weeks I've lost more than 30lbs on two different occassions with a SIGNIFICANT amount of it being muscle.

Overnight? No but it sure seemed like it.

Bad actually heh. I'm going up to the Cleveland Clinic next Friday to get seen by some important specialist. One of the best in the country or something. Hopefully he's going to tell me something good. :o
