First off. I am looking (arnt we always looking) for a nice 30-06 or 7mm rifle. I know a good deal about the remingtons, and in the price range, the other guns i was looking at are the Savages. I saw a 110 in 7mm rem mag for 375 bucks w/ leapold scope and sling at the gun shop near me. I am wondering about the 110, and also the other models that maybe have more features, etc. then that.

Unfortunatly i had to have some stuff done on my bronco (damn shops) that cost the majority of the price of the rifle, so it will be a bit, so im just gathering info.

Baisically i want to know what a good, low cost model from them ( bolt action w/ a small mag) that would be good to look for. And also any experiences people have had w/ savage rifles.

    thanks in advanced to everyone.

I think the ummm 110 is now called the 111.. correct me if I'm wrong..

the 111 is their cheapest one I think.. but its a great gun.. my brother has a savage 110 .270, pre-acutrigger, it was cheap, and its very accurate, well balanced, good gun.

cool. So the 111 is their inexpensive bolt w/ a magazine.

how does it compare to the remington 710, cause those are inexpensive around here too.

care to elaborate, my buddy just got the 710 in 7mm, the bolt seems to be tough to rack, but i just want to know why your sayin this.

never shot one.. dont really care to. as soon as I picked it up, it just reeked of cheapness.. the entire thing felt plastic, action wasnt very smooth..

I dont think theres anyone that would recommend a 710 over a 110/111

my friend did, he didnt like how ass-lite the savage was, but i like the savage more, i was just seeing if there was any one who had a savage for reviews. The reviews i see online are good for the 710, but like you said, the action felt rather unsturdy(is that a word)

I got a 110 30-06 I like it, current scope on it sucks and wintertime here so i wont be using it much, better scope and stock it'de be perfect, if I could do it all over again I probably would of got .308 instead though.

    por que on the .308

and one more gun to bring up. I read a review of the Weatherby Vanguard. Comes with good accuracy and a good price. It said the gun is sent with a target to verify it will shoot withing 1.5in groups (cant remember the range, and doesnt account for my error as this is my first centerfire rifle). How are these compared to the savages.

pick up the 10/110fp. walmart has them under $500 and great guns. Just got a 10fple2. The 10 is short action, 110 long action.

My friend has a Vanguard in .300Wby, it's a really nice gun. The fit and finish are great, and the wood stock is really well done. I think it'd be a toss up between the two, but the Vanguard did impress me, especially for the price.

Vanguards are very good, friend has one in a synthetic stock in .243 win and its pretty accurate. Very good build quality and I like the crisp trigger. If you can, get a Mark V.

and a Mark V is over double, and in many cases triple, the price of a Vanguard. :hsugh:
