I'm looking at casting my own bullets and I see a ton of "semi wadcutters" on ebay. The problem is they look like they would fuckup the rampon my Xd45.

Is this a concern with lead? WOuld a smooth round nose bullet be better?

    Thanks`

for the most part, solid lead bullets are only a problem on pistols with a polygonal barrel.. aka, glocks

Lead is much softer than alloy or steel, I can't imagine it would do anything more than leave a streak over time.

go to the range and shoot a brick of .22. go home and clean the gun. tell me if you have the same opinion then.

Well obviously the more you shoot between cleanings the more deposits are going to be left behind; but it's not going to damage the weapon unless they grow to the point that it starts malfunctioning.

Just more shit to clean out of your barrel.

  8. Im my Glock 29 if I start with a clean barrel, shoot maybe 15 lead rounds through it, and then 100 jacketed rounds through it, the lead still makes a mess. It's a total pain in the ass to clean. I understand that the rifling is different, but in general lead makes a mess.

I realize it's messy. But "fuck up" in the original post sounds to me like "damage" not "get messy." :dunno:

  10. I guess by that definition they won't fuck up anything.
